Help & FAQs

General

How do you create your sounds?

Our sounds are produced using vintage equipment:
The following dynamics are part of our kit list: Chiswick Reach, Phoenix, Chandler, STT, Manley Massive Passive, CLM Expounder, to name but a few. And we use 12 bit samplers such as Akai S950 and Emu SP1200, all the way to 24/96 such as Emus etc.. Some sounds have been recorded especially for us, some are sampled from vinyl and tweaked to create our own sounds, and some sounds are actually created from scratch using basic waveforms (our main sound designer has been creating sounds for Emu Sound modules for years). Another favourite of ours is to burn our sounds and beats onto acetate and resample. This way we get the dirt and grime but at top notch quality.

Why should I buy your sounds?

For a start, we've professionally edited these sounds using equipment most home studio owners can never realistically get hold of - such as vintage valve equipment used by top producers. We save you time and effort, which means you can get on with what you do best - creating music. On top of that, all our packs represent excellent value for money - have a look around the internet at other sites offering digital downloads - how many of them offer so many sounds for the low price we do? We also produce our content to the highest standard, the standard that our sound designer has to use to fulfil his sound design contracts with the major manufacturers.

Why are your sounds so inexpensive compared to *******.com? Are they not as good?

Our sounds are top quality - but we find it hard to justify charging the ridiculous prices our competitors do. They seem to go for the 'make it expensive and people will assume it's the best quality' route, which we simply cannot bring ourselves to do. We feel our packs are priced fairly and honestly. We feel so strongly about this that we have included a sample buyers guide on our site. Please read this guide as it will help you greatly in deciding where to buy your online samples.

Do I own the sounds?

Yes - after purchase the sounds are yours, there are no licence fees or royalties to pay. Most of our competitors merely licence the sounds to you, you never own them - this means if you release a track using their samples, they can claim royalties or charge you additional licencing fees! We do not advocate this thinking. You have paid once, why should you pay again? However, we do require accreditation. This is our means of advertising.

The sounds I bought are not really my style - can I get my money back?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds on audio sample sales. This is why we urge you to listen to all demos, read all descriptions and contact us with any further questions about a particular product. We're confident that you'll be very impressed with any purchase you make on this site. If there is a problem with your purchase, such as a faulty CD, we will exchange your CD for a new copy and if a sample pack download is corrupted because your internet connection got cut off, you are free to download it again at no extra charge.

I need technical support for my Sampler- can you help?

Generally, no - we merely sell sounds that work in Akai and Emu samplers, or any sampler that can reaf SF2 and wavs. We are not affiliated to Akai or Emu and cannot support their hardware. Technical support queries should be sent to Akai and Emu themselves, or to the shop you bought your sampler from. However, we do provide tutorials to help you to get going.

How can I get notified of new products or specials etc.?

We have a monthly newsletter, that you can subscribe to, that lists news, discounts, product releases etc. You can access it here. Please read the privacy agreement so that you can rest assured that your email address will be safeguarded.

How do I pay for the products?

With all our products you have the option to pay by credit card or Paypal. We support all the major credit cards, so that you will have choice and an easy and hassle free method of payment. If you cannot pay by using either of these methods, then please contact us to arrange another method of payment.

Sample Packs

What is in each pack?

Each and every pack has a detailed explanation of what is in the pack. Please read the pack definitions carefully and listen to the demos, so that you will be in no doubt as to what you are purchasing.

Where's my email?

Download link emails are dispatched to the email address you supply us with within 12 hours after your purchase, but usually within a couple of hours. At the same time we are also sent a carbon copy of this email. If your email has not arrived, there are many possible reasons to explain this, including:

  • It may have been delayed because of problems with your ISP
  • You gave us an incorrect email address (always check this address before you submit your payment!)
  • You are checking the wrong email account
  • There is a delay or problem on our server.

If your email does not arrive after 24 hours, please contact us and give us as much information about your purchase as possible - after payment you will have received a transaction reference number (on screen and via a separate email) - please quote this number in all correspondence. The more information you give us, the faster we can respond to your query!

Why can't I download my sounds?

All links are valid for 48 hours from time of purchase - we do this as a security measure to stop unauthorised downloading. Please try to download your product as soon as you receive your download email. If your link has expired, we can re-validate it once more, so please contact us and make sure you send us your transaction reference number!

Why won't my download extract?

All download packs on our server are tested regularly. While downloading your zip/rar file, it is possible that external conditions may corrupt the content. These factors include:

  • Interference on your internet connection
  • Drop outs on your internet connection
  • Use of download acceleration software like Gozilla

If your sounds will not extract, feel free to download the pack again.

Can you send me my sounds on disk?

If you would like your sounds sent to you on disk, then please purchase a CD ROM collection. We cannot send out download pack purchases by disk.

SoundFont

What are SoundFont formats and how do I use them?

For a detailed explanation of what SoundFons are and how to use them, please go here SoundFont.

What are the differences between the SoundFont packs and the normal wav packs?

It is important that you are fully aware of what a SoundFont is and how to use it. If you are unclear then please read this SoundFont. In terms of pack count and quality: You get more sounds in the SoundFont packs than the standard wav packs. However, the wav packs have been processed and are offered far more 'coloured' than the SoundFont packs. The reason for this is that SoundFont packs carry over well to any software that can read the format, but cannot carry over efx or filter settings. So, in most instances the sounds are not as meaty, but are they are still top quality fonts, that can then be shaped and treated in any way you see fit. The other advantage to using SoundFont, is that the real hard work has been done for you. In effect, you simply load a font and you have all the sounds mapped across your keyboard, and ready to be played.

What if all I want to use are the samples in the SoundFont pack, and not the SoundFont itself?

No problem. All the SoundFont packs have their samples carried in a sample pool folder. You simply open the SoundFont folder and select the samples from the sample pool folder. The samples are all top quality wav files, so there is no compromise in quality at all. This pool folder is usually located with the SoundFont and in the software you are using. You need to load the SoundFont and open it to access the samples.

Can I create my own kits by using the SoundFont packs?

Absolutely, and this is one of the main attractions of using SoundFont. You can load a kit and substitute it's component sounds with sounds from another kit. You can do this by using whatever soiftware you have that can load and read SoundFont, or you can use Vienna, which is Creative's own SoundFont editing software.

Sample CDs

How can I demo what is on the cds and cd roms?

All the content on the CD and CD ROM collections have demos on the site. No matter which product you are buying, all you need to do is to go to the relevant section on the site and listen to the demo for the specific CD/CD ROM.

How long does shipping take?

For UK orders, your package should arrive within 2 working days. Please allow up to 7 working days for your package to arrive if you live outside of the UK. If after this time your disk has not appeared, please contact us and include your transaction reference. We will investigate the matter immediately. All shipments will require a signature upon delivery.

What am I paying for?

You are paying for the samples/sounds contained within the disk. The disk itself is supplied free of charge and is merely a convenient way of sending you a bulk collection of sounds. We highly recommend that upon receipt of your disk, that you transfer your sounds to your own storage medium.
